Hello. My name is Deb Nicholson. My mission is to end violence against women. It’s that simple. And that difficult.
I believe that women’s safety is much more than the absence of danger, threat, risk or fear. It is about the presence of security, freedom and new opportunities to flourish. It is about more than just surviving. I want women and their children who have experienced violence to be able to believe in the future. I coach women who have emerged from violence, are living safely and are thinking about how to get where they want to be. Is this you?
I believe that most workplaces can do more to improve women’s safety. I have built, managed and changed organisations to do this. Through training, mentoring, and awareness raising activities I build organisational capacity to protect women, improve practice, strengthen service provision and prevent violence. This involves practice assessment, project or program design, partnership strengthening, coordination and evaluation. Always done in close partnership with the organisation. And only when the woman and her safety are at the centre of the process.
“There is one universal truth, applicable to all countries, cultures and communities: violence against women is never acceptable, never excusable, and never tolerable.” United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
